It’s Not Fair!
7 yo: “It’s not fair! I didn’t have fun today [at Six Flags] because I had to stay near the baby rides. It’s not fair! The twins got to go on all of the crazy, big fun rides.”
[Clearly the fairness of his spending a school day on a field trip to Great Adventure while his sisters were in a classroom all day wasn’t relevant at the time.]
Ima: ” I would like to talk to you for a moment alone…. no, [9 yo] you cannot come as well, I want to speak to your brother alone for a minute.”
9 yo [who spent the day on crazy, big boy, fun rides instead of the baby section – or even actually at school ] : Â “It’s not fair! I want you to tell me something alone too!”
… I have to wonder if we sound this ridiculous to Hashem every time we cry out “It’s not fair!“
Ah, the universal language of children.
Kind of makes you want to lock ’em out of the house, huh? Or at least lock yourself in the bathroom.
